How can I send biopsies to St. Joseph Dermatopathology?
Call us at 713 660 9444 and ask to speak with David or Irma. If you wish to send biopsies to us on a regular basis we will send you requisition forms and supplies, and set up a pickup schedule for your office. Pathology reports are generally ready the next day after receipt of biopsy at our lab. Path reports can be delivered by our couriers in our local pickup area, they can be mailed, faxed or delivered electronically as a PDF file.
What if I am located outsided of the Houston area?
If you are located outside of the Houston area, as are many of our referring physicians, we can arrange to have the biopsies delivered to us overnight.
Do I have to bill the patients for your services?
We can establish the payment arrangements that you desire. If you would like to keep things as simple as possible for yourself and staff, just supply us with the patient billing information and we will bill the patients or their insurance.
What insurances do you accept?
We participate with traditional Medicare and Medicaid as well as a number of the privately administered Medicare and Medicaid replacement plans. We participate with all major carriers and many of the smaller carriers. We participate primarily with PPO, Indemnity and POS plans. We generally do not participate with HMO plans.
Are your doctors available to speak with us?
Our doctors are available to discuss your cases with you, to elaborate on their findings and even to discuss treatment options with you. Our whole staff is always at your disposition. We are here to answer any questions that you may have and to help in any way that we can. We look forward to hearing from you. Write to us, email us, fax us, call us. We are here for you.
Why did I receive a bill from St. Joseph Dermatopathology?
You received a bill because we performed a microscopic evaluation on one or more tissue samples sent to us by your Dermatologist. We are not associated with your Dermatologist, we are a seperate and independent entity.
Why did my Dermatologist send you my tissue sample?
Microscopic evaluation of the tissue is the best way to determine the correct diagnosis. In the majority of cases the findings are of a benign nature but since diseases of the skin can often look very similar it is generally in the patient's best interest to have a microscopic evaluation to be sure of the diagnosis.
How can I get my tissue sample sent to St. Joseph Dermpath?
If you want your tissue sample sent to us just tell your doctor. If he/she does not already send biopsies to us just ask him to call us and we will provide them with everything they need to send us your biopsy.
What if my tissue sample was already processed by another lab?
If your tissue sample was already processed by another lab but you feel uncomfortable with the diagnosis or just want a second opinion, just tell your doctor that you want materials for a second opinion sent to us. Again, if your doctor is not currently sending biopsies to us they can just call us and we will provide them with what they need.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept Medicare and Medicaid and some of the Medicare and Medicaid replacement plans. We accept the majority of the PPO, PFFS (Private Fee For Service), and Indemnity plans. We accept some HMO and POS plans. When you call to make an appointment we will tell you if we participate with your plan or if in doubt, we will contact your plan to verify participation.
What methods of payment do you offer?
